Jonah: The Seed

Jonah has a provocative and compelling encounter with the Gospel of John. The Lord God often rebukes the human understanding of His words as Jonah questions them with statements like: "Most people ask My Son to behave as they would have their savior and king behave. They judge him and decide what is wrong with the way He is sharing Me. If they can do this to My Son, how much more must they do this to each other?" (Pg. 116) more=>

Much of the dialogue for this book was taken from the daily meditations found on Jonahsway.com or in the weekly prayers and meditations which you may receive by sending your request to sbovia@neo.rr.com.

It is my hope that the reader will find the Gospel of John as inspiring and spiritually uplifting as my Jonah found it once he had stopped fighting the concepts and person of Christ as presented in this non-synoptic Gospel.

Sample: Meditation 117: Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from the hour? No, for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father glorify thy name." John 12 27-28

*******

"Father tell me this isn't your son. Tell me that the writer of this Gospel made this up."

"Why should I tell you such a thing, Jonah?"

"Because it doesn't make sense. No same man would say something like this when faced with death or harm. This is the product of sick mind, Father."

"This is how you view the truth, Jonah, As something sick?"

"The truth is clarifying, Father, not muddling. The truth says what is known in a way that cannot be denied."

"Thus my Son speaks. It is the truth that is His life and the reason for His life. Your inability to accept it does not make it less true. His resurrection and the work of the Holy Spirit in the world will witness to its' truth more than any words."

"You sure of that, God?"

"Tell you what, Jonah."

"What?"

"If this doesn't happen, I'll never bother you again. I'll just disappear like so many other concepts and ideas that are of man. However, if it's true, in a couple of thousand years or so I'll still be around and the world will still be debating these words. We got a deal?"

"But I won't be around to see how it comes out, God."

"Yes you will, Jonah."
